I'm working on a new WIP, a romantic comedy with a Christmas theme. It's been fun creating a fictional town and getting my characters in the Christmas spirit. As a tribute to my story, and for a little fun, I thought I'd list some true U.S. towns, recognized as a populated place by the U.S. government - all of which have a Christmas related name.
North Pole, New York
Garland, Nebraska
Holiday Hills, Illinois
Silver Bell, Arizona
Eggnog, Utah
Kind of fun, right? Here in Colorado, where I live, we have an Evergreen, Holly, and a town named Antlers.
How about you? Do you have any Christmas related town names near where you live?

We have a Holiday, FL nearby. How did you find that list? I tried looking for one like that and couldn't find it.
ReplyDeleteYour story sounds cute! :-)
That sounds so fun!!!
ReplyDeleteNo Christmas towns where I live, which is a shame. It'd be nice to have the holiday spirit year round. :)
Hi Jessica! I found the list at this site, http://www.accuracyproject.org/towns-xmas.html
ReplyDeleteI also rechecked the towns by using the state websites or Wikipedia, just to make sure they were real places, too.
Jennifer, it would be fun to have the Christmas spirit year round. We have a North Pole here, an amusement park for kids that's open year round. They play Christmas music and have a Santa Claus and reindeer--the whole bit. It's fun!
ReplyDeleteNo, but we do have Frankenmuth, with the world's largest Christmas store a few hours north of us!
ReplyDeleteAnd we also have a Hell, Michigan. Not so Christmassy...
Have a great weekend!!
In southern Indiana there is - Santa Claus, Indiana - America's Christmas Hometown.
ReplyDeletePeople from all over send their Christmas Cards to the post office there to be stamped "Santa Claus, Indiana.
Lol, Jill. Well, that is something :) That's cool that you have the world's largest Christmas store near you, though.
ReplyDeleteLoree, yes, I think I've heard about that. How fun!
I can't think of anywhere in Britain with a chrsitmas theme, but there is Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean.
ReplyDeleteFun list! I don't know of any around here.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having lots of fun working on your story, Cindy. Do you play Christmas carols while writing to get you in the mood?
ReplyDeleteI used Google to find out if California has any Christmas-themed city names. We do. There's Angels Camp, Antler, Bell, Donner, and Hallelujah Junction. And there used to be a town called Pipers back in the 1800s.
The only one of the places I knew about was Angels Camp. It's located in the Gold Country. My family has visited it. The town is famous for hosting the Calaveras County jumping frog contest made famous in Mark Twain's story.
I don't think we have a holiday named city or town near us, but that would be festive indeed! :)
