Friday Favorites - The Writing Community

I have to say, writers are some of the most encouraging and supportive people I've ever met. Maybe it's because we're all on-line and it's simpler to e-mail and be supportive that way than in person. Maybe it's because we know what it's like to try and try and try and be passionate about something that's so hard to accomplish (like getting an agent or publisher). Maybe it's because most of us are women. :) Okay, I was just teasing on that one.

I've mentioned this before, noticed it before, but after the Genesis contest results this week, it's never really truly hit me just how important this writing community is. Even writers who didn't final were congratulating me and consoling others and being so completely unselfish, it really inspired me and warmed my heart. You can see God working through these people, and it touches me.

So if you are a new writer or not a big part of the writing community, I encourage you to be. Writers are there for you through it all, and the more engaged you are with their lives and careers and ups and downs the more support you'll get, which is essential in writing and publishing.

Just wanted to say thanks to all those who congratulated me this week, congratulations to the other semi-finalists, and quadruple thanks to all you writers who make being a writer a pleasure. You guys rock!
